ISSF Shotgun World Cup | Kynan Chenai, Prithviraj Tondaima eliminated on second day

After performing brilliantly in the first three rounds of the event, where Kynan and Prithviraj shot two perfect rounds of 25 each and leading the 109-strong qualification field in the men’s trap shooting competition tied with Great Britain and Kazakhstan, the duo had a disastrous second day.

While Kynan came up with rounds of 24, 24, and 22 to finish 15th, Tondaiman was even more terrible with runs of 22, 22 and 24 as he slipped the ladder to the 33rd position on the second qualification day. The other representative, Zoravar Singh Sandhu, who was below par with scores of 22 and 23 on Wednesday, was the best performer on Thursday with scores of 24, 23, and 24 in the last three rounds as he managed to finish 64th with a total of 116 points.

This has been the third successive time in World Cups this year that the Indians failed to earn an Olympic quota, whether be it for the final of trap or skeet events in Changwon. Compared to them, the rifle/pistol shooters were successful as they earned five quota places at the end of two World Cups.

They would be participating next in the last week of May in Munich, Germany where they compete in the third leg of ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Cup.
