Anjum Moudgil and Divyansh Panwar clinch gold in ISSF World Cup

India’s excellent performance in the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup in Munich continued with the addition of 2 medals to the tally after having won 3 golds in the previously concluded events.

In the third World Cup of the season, the winning pair managed to retain their crown as World Champions after also having won the gold in Beijing the previous month. They registered the win in style, winning 14 consecutive rounds to rout their opponents 16-2.

The two teams had qualified for the final showdown after Moudgil and Panwar had finished the previous qualification round on top with 631.9 points, an improvement upon the 629.1 they had scored in the first round in which they had finished fourth. Chandela and Kumar had scored just scored 0.1 less in the starting stage, before the trail plummeted to 1.9 points as they had finished the second round with 630 points. 

Earlier on in the tournament, Apurvi Chandela had won a gold in the solo category too, finishing first in 10m air rifle having already booked a place in the Olympics, while Manu Bhaker finished fourth though she also earned herself an Olympic quota. These impressive showings were followed by Saurabh’s world record breaking performance and Rahi Sarnobat’s brilliant display which won golds in the 10m air pistol and 25m categories respectively, with the latter also sealing an Olympic quota with her win.
