After PV Sindhu's inspirational performance, Kidambi Srikanth will need to produce one when he takes on the greatest badminton player ever—Lin Dan—in the men's singles quarterfinal. Meanwhile, India's teenage golf sensation Aditi Ashok will be in action today, along with Vinesh Phogat in wrestling.

Aditi Ashok will take to the field today in the first round of the women's individual golf event. The 18-year-old is not a medal contender, as she will be up against far more experienced opponents. However, after Anirban Lahiri and Shiv Chawrasia's disappointing performances in the men's event, she will hope for a strong finish.

After beating the Super Dane, the Super Dan is up next for Kidambi Srikanth. The 23-year-old shuttler will face arguably the greatest badminton player of all time, Lin Dan, in the quarterfinal. Two years back, Srikanth announced his arrival to the rest of the world by beating Lin Dan in the 2014 China Open Super Series Premier—which was also the last encounter between these two. If he can produce a similar performance against the World No.3 tonight, then we will be in for a thrilling encounter.

After disappointments in the Greco-Roman wrestling, the Freestyle wrestling will kick off today, which is India's forte. 23-year-old Sakshi Malik will face Sweden's Johanna Mattsson, who won a gold medal at the European Championships two years back, in the 58 kg category. Vinesh Phogat, who won a bronze medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships earlier this year, will also be in action in the 48 kg category against Romanian Emilia Alina Vuc, who won a silver medal at the 2016 European Championship.

Finally, Tintu Lukka will take part in the heats of the women's 800m. The 27-year-old, who is coached by PT Usha, has been in good form this season and has even won a gold medal at the Asian Championships last year. She is expected to qualify for the semifinals, like she did in the 2012 Olympics, and hopefully a place in the final after that.
