Sports minister Kiren Rijiju appoints 10-man committee for Olympics

Union sports minister Kiren Rijju has constituted the formation of a 10-member coordinate and strategise the preparation for the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. The objective of the committee is to ensure that the performance of Indian athletes in the Olympics and other multidisciplinary events.

On Friday, a 10-member committee has been constituted under the leadership of India's sports minister Kiren Rijiju to coordinate and strategise the group of Indian athletes ahead of the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. The primary objective of the committee is to ensure that the budding group of Indian sportsmen are in the best shape ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and other events.

The committee comprises prominent sportspersons like Olympic medallists - tennis ace Leander Paes and shooter Gagan Narang.

The main names in the committee include secretary of department of sports Radhey Shyam Julaniya, IOA president Narinder Batra, IOA secretary-general Rajeev Mehta, president of Indian Athletics Federation Adille Sumariwalla and Boxing Federation of India chief Ajay Singh among others.

The aim of the committee for the Tokyo Games would be to provide all possible support to potential and qualified athletes. They would also need to put together a concrete plan for the preparation of the 2024 Olympic Games.
