Indian squash star Joshna Chinappa pulled out a huge upset in the first round of the 2015 Qatar Classic as she defeated Egyptian World No.1 Raneem El Welily 3-1 (9-11, 6-11, 11-4, 9-11) on Saturday.

Chinappa continued her giant killing streak, as she followed up her recent win over World No.10 Annie Au in the first round of the US Open, with an even bigger scalp in her opening match of the Qatar Classic in Doha.

Chinappa, number 20 in PSA World Tour rankings, raced to a two game lead against Raneem, before the Egyptian pulled one back. But the 29-year-old held her nerve and won the deciding game 9-11 to qualify through to the next round.

In the 2nd round, which will be held on Novemeber 2, Chinappa faces another Egyptian, Yathreb Adel, who defeated Indian squash player Dipika Pallikal 3-0 (11-5, 11-7, 11-7) in the first round clash on Saturday.

India's solitary representative in the men's main draw, Saurav Ghosal, ranked World No. 16, will face Fares Dessouki in the first round clash on Sunday.
