The UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championships saw Delhi’s Aadarsh Om Chetri ousting Tamil Nadu’s Preyesh Raj Suresh to win sub-junior boys trophy at the DPS Hall here on Sunday. The sub-junior girls crown was won by Haryana’s Suhana Saini who defeated Maharashtra’s Taneesha Kotecha.

Chetri was clearly the better player on the day and had a good idea of left-handed Preyesh’s game. He got into a quick lead as he continued capitalizing on his opponent’s unforced errors. Though Preyesh was the better player occasionally, Chetri just had to win on the day.

Suhana, on the other hand, did not have to sweat much against the Maharashtra opponent, who seemed nervy in the high-pressure competition and looked passive. However, it still saw the Haryana paddler winning only after deuce where Taneesha had shown some glimpses of fight. But, those sparks by Taneesha were rare and  Suhana's title aspirations eventually triumphed.

In the cadet boys final event, Uttar Pradesh's Umesh Kumar was the winner after he overcame the challenge of Dhruv Shah of Maharashtra 4-1. In the cadet girls crown, West Bengal’s Diya Bramhachary defeated state mate Nandina Saha 4-2.

Shah didn’t start well against Kumar but looked to make a comeback when he won the fourth game to make it 3-1. However, he lost the title in the very next game. Divya, on the other hand, had a difficult match against Nadini as the duo kept winning alternate games until 2-2 before Dibya won the fifth and finished off the match by winning the next game 13-11.
