India’s Leander Paes and his Polish partner Lukasz Kubot downed Argentine Federico Delbonis and Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 7-5 in 71 minutes in the first round of the Valencia Open in Spain on Wednesday.

The second-seeded Indo-Polish pair broke their wild card opponents in the fifth game to clinch the opening set.  Delbonis and Busta broke Paes’ serve in the sixth game to go up 4-2 in the second set. Paes and Kubot, however, broke back immediately, leveled at 5-5 before breaking their opponents again in the 11th game to close out the match.
