India were given top billing in the Davis Cup Group 1 Asia/Oceania zone, less than a week after losing their World Group playoff to the Czech Republic at home.

India were given top billing in the Davis Cup Group 1 Asia/Oceania zone, less than a week after losing their World Group playoff to the Czech Republic at home.

Uzbekistan were seeded number two for the 2016 season and the top two countries will get first round byes. The other teams in the group are China, South Korea, New Zealand and Pakistan.

In the second round, to be held between July 15 and 17, India will host either New Zealand or Korea as they had beaten both in away ties this year.

The winner of the second round will advance to the playoff stage, where teams strive to make it to the elite 16-nation World Group.

Last week, India had gone down tamely to the Czech by a scoreline of 1-3 in the playoffs, to be relegated to the zonal competition.
