Sania Mirza's autobiography to be released in July
Possibly chronicling her journey from an aspiring youngster to a middling singles player to No.1 in doubles, Sania Mirza will release her autobiography in July. She has hoped that the book, which contains her memorable encounters with players, would inspire the next generation of Indian players.
"I hope the book is a useful roadmap to guide the next generation of tennis players from India. If my story can inspire even one youngster to the heights of winning a Grand Slam in the future, I will feel blessed," said Mirza, reported PTI.
Co-authored by Sania along with her father Imran Mirza, the book is reported to contain memorable anecdotes of her life sampling the hurdles and the triumphs she encountered enroute to the top of the women's doubles circuit.
Titled, 'Ace Against Odds,' the book also contains Sania's memorable encounters with players on and off the field.
"Sania's is an extraordinary achievement and her autobiography is as compelling as it is inspirational. We are privileged to be able to work with her on the book," said Karthika V K, Publisher and Chief Editor, Harper Collins to PTI.
Sania had a dream start to her career winning the Wimbledon Girls doubles title at the age of 16, and won the 'WTA Newcomer of the Year' award for 2005. After struggling with injuries in 2010, she shifted to her focus to doubles tennis and won three mixed doubles titles. However, her best years have come off late after her pairing with Swiss Miss Martina Hingis as the pair went on an unbeaten streak that almost eclipsed Jana Novotna-Helena Sukova's 44-match run, winning the Wimbledon and US Open in 2015 and the Australian Open in 2016.
