Wuhan Open | Sania-Strycova enter semifinals

Sania Mirza and Barbora Strycova carried on their red-hot form following their Pan Pacific Open win by defeating the pair of Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova to enter the semis of the WTA Wuhan Open on Friday. They next face the second seeded Taipei team of Hao-Ching Chan and Yung-Jan Chan.

After winning the Cincinnati Open and the Pan Pacific Open since partnering up two months ago, Sania Mirza and Barbora Strycova carried on their impressive run into the Wuhan Open in China by defeating the sixth seeded team of Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova on Friday.

The Indo-Czech pair, seeded third,defeated the Hungarian-Kazakh team 6-3, 7-6(5) despite dropping their serve thrice in the quarter-finals by breaking their rivals four times in the one-hour and 18 minutes of the match.

The duo will next face the second seeded pair of Hao-Ching Chan and Yung-Jan Chan in the semifinal. If the pair manages to win the tournament in China, it will be their third title in the last three months after Mirza split with her long-time partner Martina Hingis in August.
