Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) will host the India-Uzbekistan Asia-Oceania Zone Group I Davis Cup tie from April 7 to 9, the All India Tennis Association (AITA) has announced. Uzbekistan has a 3-2 head-to-head record over India in the premier competition.

"We are pleased to confirm Bengaluru as the venue for the Davis Cup tie between India and Uzbekistan. We are sure that Bengaluru will embrace this event and witness some high quality tennis," Hironmoy Chatterjee, secretary-general, AITA, told NDTV.

Bengaluru last hosted India's Davis Cup World Group playoff tie against Serbia in September 2014 that the hosts lost 2-3.lose where India lost to the Serbians 2-3.

"With the current roster of available players for this Davis Cup tie, I'm confident that the surface at KSLTA will work well for the team. The conditions in Bangalore will be complementary to their big serves, putting them at an advantage as they take on Uzbekistan," India’s new non-playing captain Mahesh Bhupathi said.

India defeated New Zealand 4-1 in the first round of the Davis Cup in Pune earlier this month while Uzbekistan qualified by beating Korea 3-1 in an away first round tie. The winner of this rubber will advance to the World Group Playoffs, to be held in September.
