Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig entered the mixed doubles semi-finals at the Australian Open by beating Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski 6-4, 3-6, 12-10 and will meet the winner of the Martina Hingis/Leander Paes-Sam Stosur/Sam Groth clash for a place in the final.

Bopanna and his Canadian partner rallied after losing the opening set to stretch the match into the 10-point tie-break decider that saw the top-ranked women’s doubles player Mirza and Dodig save four match points before earning one of their own.

Bopanna-Dabrowski got an early break-point opportunity in the first set but failed to capitalise on it. A second break-point opportunity came on Dabrowski's serve in the seventh game, which Mirza-Dodig converted to go up 4-3 before sealing the set.

Although Bopanna-Dabrowski served eight aces and hit 14 winners in the opening set, their nine unforced errors cost them as Mirza- Dodig committed only five.

Mirza double-faulted in the fourth game of the second set which helped Bopanna-Dabrowski to secure their first break of the match, and held serve for the rest of the second set to force the match into the tie-break.

Bopanna-Dabrowski gained an early edge in the decider by breaking Dodig. But Mirza-Dodig made a stunning comeback, with an unforced error by Bopanna towards the end handing the match to Mirza & partner.
