The stars aligned themselves perfectly to bring to the world a tennis fan's ultimate fantasy - a Grand Slam Final match between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. At the end of some brilliant tennis by both the tennis greats, Federer overcame his demons and Nadal to lift his 18th grandslam title.

The two have given the fans some amazing matches, and this one was no less. Unsurprisingly, Twitter buzzed about the match-up and thousands of people from around the world were glued in to what was going down at the Rod Laver Arena as two of the greatest players to have ever picked up a tennis racquet gave their fans another 5-setter they'll remember.

The greatest rivalry the sport has ever seen

We knew who Pakistan was cheering for.

Two very different kind of champions.

No matter how fierce rivals they are ON THE COURT, Roger and Rafa are the best of friends off it.

Roger broke Rafa's serve to win the first set and Fedfans went berserk.

But Nadal, being Nadal, fought back and won the second.

Or was he even Nadal?

Someone had an explanation for what went wrong for Roger in the second.

Meanwhile

Federer came out all guns blazing to win the third set after breaking Nadal twice.

He also played this beauty.

But again, Nadal, being Nadal, won the fourth to take it to a decider.

In which he played this forehand winner.

The fans had got what they wanted, a long battle between two of the games greatest stalwarts.

Nadal broke early in the fifth to take a lead, and Federer had 5 break opportunities in 3 different games, but

Before he finally did break, and hell broke loose.

Casey Dellacqua couldn't handle it.

Chris Evert couldn't believe it.

There's no point of any more tennis really

Rafa ;)

True that!

When the best in cricket wishes the best in tennis!

The latest rankings!

Path breaker for a reason!

That expression says it all!

This is special not just for us!

Champion forever!
