Tomas Berdych, on Monday, relieved Goran Ivanisevic from his duties as a coach after the former suffered a straight sets defeat, 7-5, 6-4, 6-4, to Russian Karen Khachanov at the French Open. The duo had teamed up in August 2016 but the lack of positive results have resulted in the decision to split.

"Goran and I will not be working together anymore," Berdych told AP. "I enjoyed the ride and we will remain great friends. Wish him all the best in the future and I am committed to go after my goals with current team."

The 13th-seeded Berdych suffered a crushing and surprising defeat at the hands of the 53rd ranked Karan Khanchanov which resulted in his second round exit from the French Open, a feat which can be considered below par according to the 31-year old's standards.

Goran Ivanisevic won the Wimbledon title in 2001 and in 2014 assisted Marin Cilic in his run to the U.S Open title. However, the Croatian was unable to work his magic with Berdych and under him the Czech's stewardship dropped to No. 14 from No. 8, leaving the top 10 for the first time since 2010.

Berdych has led the Czechs to two Davis Cup titles but has not won a grand slam tournament to date. The 31-year old reached the Wimbledon final in 2010 and reached his career-high ranking of No. 4 last year.
