I am tired of comparisons with Roger Federer, says Grigor Dimitrov

Grigor Dimitrov has always been accused of playing in the copybook style as Roger Federer does. Even during his early years on The Association Of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour, Grigor Dimitrov was given the name 'Baby Fed' because of his playing style was seen similar to that of the Swiss legend. 

After winning the World Tour Finals last November in London, the Bulgarian has become the world number 4 ranked Tennis player and has now made it amply clear that comparisons with the legendary Federer do not amuse him anymore. On Monday, the 26-year-old went on to state that he is tired of being continually compared to Federer and has requested to put a stop on it. 

“I am tired about this topic, I am tired of comparisons. This is part of the past,” said Dimitrov.

Dimitrov has been gearing up for the Madrid Open, where he is scheduled to begin his campaign on Tuesday in the second round against Canadian Milos Raonic. After a good start to the European clay court swing, in which he had reached the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters and last eight of the Barcelona Open, Dimitrov will now be heading ahead will full of confidence.

However, Dimitrov has also admitted that he has been inspired by Rafael Nadal to reach new levels and would be relishing the challenge of facing him. 

“I love practicing against him, I love playing matches.I think it's great to have a reference like that to improve yourself. It pushes you to do better. You have to give 100 percent and try to exploit his weaknesses. You can find them, but the problem is sustaining it during the match,” he added.
