French Open | Prajnesh Gunneswaran to meet Hugo Dellien in first round

Indian tennis player Prajnesh Gunneswaran will play his opening round match against world number 92 Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien. Gunneswaran is the only Indian in the main draw of the competition as Ramkumar Ramanathan and Ankita Raina were knocked out in the first round of the qualifying stage.

Prajnesh Gunneswaran will play in the main draw of the French Open for the first time in his career and as per the draw, the 29-year-old Indian will meet Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien in the opening game of his campaign. Gunneswaran has got a relatively easier draw as the Bolivian tennis player is ranked seven positions below the Indian. Earlier in the qualifying rounds of the tournament, two other Indian singles players Ramkumar Ramanathan and Ankita Raina failed to make it to the main draw.

On the other hand, in the doubles category, there are four Indians playing with different partners. Rohan Bopanna will be playing along with his Romanian partner Marius Copil while Divij Sharan will combine with Brazil’s Marcelo Demoliner in the main draw of the French Open.

Veteran player Leander Paes is making a comeback to Roland Garros after a gap of two years and he will team up with Benoit Paire. Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, on the otger hand, will play the doubles matches with Mischa Zverev.
