With a good show against Canada in the round of 16 battle, the Indian men’s recurve team, which comprises of Tarundeep Rai, Praveen Jadhav, and Atanu Das, qualified for the top eight and also ensured that they get an entry into the Tokyo Olympics. India got the better of their opponents from Canada by a 5-3 win in their second round game in the Archery World Championships being held in the Netherlands.

India won the first two sets by 56-55 and 57-56 respectively but Canada came back strong with a 58-54 win in the third. However, the Indian archers asserted dominance towards the end of the game and stormed into the quarters with a 5-3 margin. Apart from India, South Korea, Kazakhstan, China, Great Britain, Australia, Netherlands, and Chinese Taipei have also secured an Olympic berth by qualifying for the quarter-finals.

On the other hand, the Indian women’s recurve team was defeated by Belarus in their second-round clash and failed to book a place in the 2020 Olympics.
