The Athletics Integrity Unit has issued charges against India’s long-distance runner Sanjeevani Jadhav for failing a dope test. Jadhav had failed a dope test in November last year but was given a clearance by the NADA and won a bronze medal at the Asian Athletics Championships earlier in April.

Jadhav is in some trouble again in her career as the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), an independent organisation of the international athletics federation, has issued doping charges against her. The Indian athlete’s dope sample had Probenecid (a drug mainly used to treat gout and hyperuricemia) which is a banned substance for international athletes. As per PTI reports, the AIU has issued charges on Wednesday against Jadhav.

The 22-year-old Maharashtra athlete couldn’t manage to clear a dope test in November last year along with four other Indians. However, there is no mention whether it is the same incident or a new one against the athlete.

Meanwhile, Jadhav was given a clearance by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) earlier this year and was allowed to represent India in international events. She also bagged a bronze medal in women’s 10000m event at the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships held in Doha in April by clocking 32:44.96.

“I can’t say it right now as we have no details. In the earlier dope case, she was asked to take voluntary suspension and fight her case. But she did not do that and said she is innocent and she will fight her case,” an Athletics Federation of India (AFI) official told PTI.
