BWF Rankings | Sindhu keeps NO.5 spot, while Saina drops again
PV Sindhu has maintained her No. 5 spot while Saina Nehwal is now on the very edge and could drop out of the top-10 in the women's singles category of the BWF rankings. HS Prannoy and Sameer Verma were the big gainers in the men's rankings with the latter reaching a career-high ranking of 23.
Despite his loss in the quarterfinal of the Syed Modi International Championships, HS Prannoy gained a couple of spots and is now just one place off the top 20. His vacant 23rd place was quickly filled by another Indian shuttler Sameer Verma who gained 11 places to finish at a career-high ranking of 23.
However, it wasn't all good news for the men as Ajay Jayaram dropped a place to land at 19 - the highest for an Indian player. Srikanth Kidambi was the biggest loser in the latest list dropping 9 places to finish the week at 30. Malaysian legend Lee Chong Wei still leads the way in the rankings with a lead of almost 4000 points.
PV Sindhu maintained her place as the World No.5, but her compatriot Saina Nehwal is now on the brink of crashing out of the top 10. Nehwal would need a good showing at the All-England series to stay in the top bracket of players. Tai Tzu Ying still leads the list with Carolina Marin a distant second.
In the men's doubles, Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy have regained the place that they dropped in the last rankings to recover the No. 23 spot. In the women's doubles, the newly formed team of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy were the biggest gainers this week making a move from 64 to 51.
