Since the final at the Rio Olympics, Carolina Marin and PV Sindhu face-offs have become one of the most-awaited matches for badminton fans. Today, at the beautiful Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad, the duo will face off again, albeit not for country, but for their respective franchises in the PBL.

In the inaugural match between Hyderabad Hunters and Chennai Smashers, fans will get to witness the action of two world-class badminton stars. Carolina Marin had defeated PV Sindhu in the final of the Rio Olympics to win the Gold medal, but Sindhu exacted some revenge by defeating the Spaniard in the quarterfinals of the season-ending Super Series Finals in Dubai.

Hyderabad were able to snatch English star Rajiv Ouseph from defending champions Delhi Acers, who has plenty of experience at the top level and will try to bring that to the fore when he faces Tanongsak later tonight.

Chennai will send Indonesian Tommy Sugiarto for the first men’s singles against Sai Praneeth and may make him the ‘Trump Card’, instead of PV Sindhu, due to the potential risk of getting negative points, if the Hyderabad lass fails to beat the Spaniard.
