Apurvi Chandela bags Gold at Swedish Cup Air Gun competition

Indian shooter Apurvi Chandela won Gold in the 10m Air Rifle event at the Swedish Cup International Air Gun competition at Sävsjö, Sweden on Tuesday.

Apurvi, the only Indian woman shooter to qualify for the Rio Olympics till date, added another feather to her cap on Tuesday to continue her medal-winning run.

The 23-year old shot a world class score of 418.3 to come first in the qualification round by scoring 102.8, 106.3 105.2 and 104.0 in the four rounds. She clinched the gold in the final by shooting a score of 211.2 to finish above Astrid Steffensen, who shot 207.6.

The World No.7 had an outstanding 2015 bagging bronze at the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup in Changwon, Korea to qualify for the Olympics and silver at the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Finals in Munich. She also added another medal to her kitty last season by winning gold at the 59th National shooting championship.
