ISSF World Cup | India ends campaign with three gold and one silver medal

India’s shooting contingent ended their World Cup campaign with a tally of four medals, which included three gold medals and one silver, after none of the shooters qualified for the finals of the respective events on Sunday. India, however, have still managed to secure five quotas for the Olympics.

After an eventful start to the tournament on Thursday, their campaign ended with a whisper with none of the shooters making it to the finals of their respective events today. Participating on the 25, Pistol event, all three shooters - Manu Bhaker, Rahi Sarnobat and Chinki Yadav – failed to reach the summit clash. 

The others participating in the Women's 50m Rifle 3P event, Gaayathri, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Kajal Saini failed to reach the final as well. This comes after India saw Divyansh Panwar and Anjum Moudgil doing brilliantly to clinch gold in 10m Air Rifle Mixed event, defeating Chinese pair of Liu Ruxuan and Yang Haoran on Thursday.

India had continued their impressive run with Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Choudhary winning a gold medal in 10m Air Pistol Mixed event by besting Chinese pair of Jiang Ranxin and Pang Wei of China 16-6 on the same day.

17-year-old Panwar extended his medal tally on the very next day by clinching a silver medal in 10m Air Rifle event as Abhishek Verma won another yellow metal in 10m Air Pistol event on Saturday.

India finished their campaign by sealing five quotas for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. While Abhishek and Saurabh secured their quotas in 10m Air Rifle event, Panwar clinched his in 10m Air Rifle event. Amongst the women, Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela secured their Olympics quotas in the 10m Air Rifle event.
