Anjum Moudgil breaks Worlds record to clinch gold at Masters Meet

Representing Punjab in the tournament where the nation’s fifteen leading shooters in each discipline by scores were eligible to compete, Moudgil surpassed Chandela’s mark of 252.9 set during the New Delhi World Cup stage at the Karni Singh Range.

Moudgil, who has already sealed her berth in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics final by winning a quota in the previous World Cups, managed to score one full point more than that of Chandela’s which was set only earlier this year.

However, even that was going to be broken by silver medallist Mehuli Ghosh of West Bengal, who came extremely close to touching it before missing Chandela’s mark in the women’s final by just 0.7. However, the youngster ensured that she went past it in the junior women’s final, which she eventually won with a score of 253. 

She was followed by Elavenil Valarivanm who won the silver medal in the junior section with a score of 252.4. The men’s 10m Air Rifle event was won by India regular Ravi Kumar of the Air Force.
