Paes- Kubot pair loses in Valencia Open quarters

Second-seeded Leander Paes and his Polish partner Lukasz Kubot went down in straight sets, 7-6 (6), 6-4 in 95 minutes to Australian Chris Guccione and Brazilian Andre Sa in the quarterfinals of the Valencia Open at Valencia, Spain.

The opening set went on serve until the tie-break after the Indo-Polish pair saved two break points early on in the first set. Paes and Kubot jumped to a 4-1 in the tie-break but the opposition rallied splendidly to clinch the set.

Paes and Kubot were broken in the opening game of the second set, but broke back immediately in the fourth to level. Guccione and Sa, however, broke the Indo-Polish pair in the ninth before serving out for the match.
