World no.1 pairing Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis defeated their third seeded opponents, Chan Hao-ching and Chan Yung-jan 6-4, 6-2 to reach the final of the 2015 WTA Finals Singapore on Saturday.

The semifinals against the Chan sisters was a rematch between these two pairs, almost three weeks after Mirza and Hingis defeated the duo to lift the China Open title. With this straight-set win, the Indo-Swiss duo have stretched their unbeaten run to 21 matches, in fact their last defeat also came against the Chan sisters, in the semifinals at Cincinnati.

Mirza and Hingis, who joined forces back in March at Indian Wells, have already lifted eight titles, including two grand slams- Wimbledon and US Open.

They will be gunning for their ninth title when they face the winner of the second semi-final, to be held later today, between eighth seeded team Garbine Muguruza – Carla Suarez Navarro and the seventh seeded pair, Andrea Hlavackova – Lucie Hradecka.

Earlier on Friday, Mirza and Hingis were awarded the year-end No.1 doubles ranking trophy by WTA. Former singles world number number Martina Hingis could not conceal her delight. "It is definitely something beyond my expectations," said Hingis. "When I first teamed up with Sania, it was a trial at Indian Wells and Miami to see how it would go. We ended up winning both of those tournaments and Charleston on top of it, and since then it has been an incredible journey. Ending up as the No. 1 team is definitely something beyond my expectations and something I had dreamed of but when it really happened it was incredible," Hingis said in an interview to the WTA.
