Will return home if Sachin won't let me open in All-Stars, jokes Ganguly

The 43-year-old will join 28 other retired cricketers to play in the Cricket All Stars League, which will be competed between Sachin's Blasters and Warne's Warriors. These two teams, led by Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne, will play their first match in New York City on November 7.

Ganguly, who has been practicing at the nets in Kolkata ahead of the big game, was seen in a jovial mood on Tuesday. The Prince of Kolkata said, "I have told Sachin, if I don't open, I will catch the next flight to Kolkata. So that is a criteria for playing," to IBN live.

Like the numerous times he has done in his prime, Ganguly was seen stepping down the pitch to spinners, although when asked about whether he can recreate the same form in the tournament, Dada was quick to remind that his best is behind him, "It is not possible. I was picking the ball late. But it was fun."

Ganguly also informed that his former team mate, and a member of the famous Fab-Four of Indian cricket, V.V.S. Laxman is struggling to get his visa from the US consulate. "V.V.S. Laxman has not got the visa yet, so he is a little worried. The US consulate are not giving him (laughs), but he will be there.

"Asked him about his (Laxman's) batting but he said he can't quite understand as to when the ball is being released. This problem will be there. I hope we will come into the groove once we reach the US," Ganguly added.

Despite struggling to get their game going, Ganguly assured that these retired stars will produce competitive cricket. "No one one wants to get out, and the bowlers also don't want to get spanked. So it will be a good contest," he was quoted as saying by IBN live.
