India’s limited overs captain MS Dhoni is set for a comeback into the domestic circuit after eight years by representing Jharkhand in the upcoming Vijay Hazare trophy next month.

With a bilateral series against Pakistan looking highly unlikely, Dhoni could represent Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare trophy.

Speaking to PTI, Jharkhand State Cricket Association Secretary Rajesh Verma said that Dhoni has expressed his desire to represent the state team.

"We have spoken to Dhoni and he has said that in all likelihood he will be available (if there's no Pakistan series) to play for Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare Trophy. We have not discussed as to how many matches he will play or whether he would like to lead the side. But if he wants obviously, he will lead the side," Verma told PTI over phone from Ranchi.

Dhoni last represented Jharkhand in the 2007 East Zone leg of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Championship in Kolkata. With the Pakistan series looking unlikely, the next series for India will be the away series against Australia.
