After the successful day-night Test between Australia and New Zealand at Adelaide last November, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering the idea of introducing day-night Tests in the next season of Duleep trophy.

"Yes, I saw a bit of action between Australia and New Zealand at Adelaide, and I liked it. I think that this idea can work in India. We've 23 stadiums in India with day-night facility, and we can definitely contemplate Duleep Trophy next year in a day-night version. I'll discuss this idea with other Board members and the president whenever I meet him the next time," BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur told ToI on Sunday.

The BCCI experimented with day-night Tests back in 1996-97, when Mumbai took on Delhi in the Ranji trophy final at Gwalior. The experiment turned out to be a failure after dew and moths played spoilsport.

Anurag Thakur also added that they must find new ways to attract the young generation to the purest form of the game.

"Getting people to watch Test cricket is a bit of a challenge worldwide and one has to try out different ways to bring people to watch the purest form of the game, especially in bigger cities where people can definitely come and enjoy a game of cricket after finishing work," he added, reported ToI.

With India scheduled to play 13 Tests at home next season against Bangladesh, New Zealand, England and Australia, the success of the Duleep trophy matches could also open the door for an International day-night Test.
