Anurag Thakur, who was serving as the BCCI Secretary, has filed his nomination for the post of the President, the governing body has confirmed. The 41-year-old will replace Shashank Manohar, who stepped down as the BCCI chief earlier this month in order to file his nomination for the ICC Chief post.

“BCCI has received nomination only from Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur for the post of President.

“Mr. Thakur has been nominated by all six full member units of the East Zone. He will be officially declared elected as the President of BCCI for the remaining term 2014-17, tomorrow at the Special General Meeting,” read the official press release by the BCCI.

IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla and Anurag Thakur were initially reported to be the frontrunners to replace Shashank Manohar, however, the later has seemingly won the race.
