All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is yet to make his Test debut, has been ruled out from the ongoing series against England following a shoulder injury. Opener KL Rahul, who aggravated his hamstring injury, has also been released from the squad to consult with the specialists.

After impressing the selectors in the one-day and T20 games, Pandya managed to enter the Test scheme but that couldn’t transpire to reality after his freak injury. He picked the injury in the training session ahead of the match and has been released from the team.

KL Rahul was expected to open the innings with Murali Vijay in the third Test, but a last-minute forearm injury to his left hand has ruled him out of the Test. The BCCI is confident that Rahul will regain his fitness ahead of India's fourth Test in Mumbai on December 8.

After making a century in the debut series against Australia, Rahul had to miss the Bangladesh series due to a bout of dengue and then missed the major part of the New Zealand series.

With the injury to Pandya and Rahul, India’s woes have only gotten worse. Earlier, wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha, openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan had also been ruled out from the team due to injuries.
