Ramachandra Guha, Vikram Limaye reject remuneration for CoA stint
Former CoA member and historian Ramachandra Guha has rejected payment of Rs. 40 lakhs that he was going to receive on a pro-rata basis from the BCCI. Banker Vikram Limaye has also declined the remuneration decided by the Supreme Court for serving Indian cricket during his short tenure.
Ramachandra Guha and Vikram Limaye were part of BCCI's Committee of Administrators (CoA) for a brief amount of time. An amount of Rs 40 lakhs was decided to be given to Guha and Rs 50 lakhs were to be given to Limaye. But they both have denied this remuneration that was cleared by the Supreme Court.
According to the Apex Council's report, the CoA will wind up after the general body meeting on 23rd October. Sourav Ganguly is all set to take over as the BCCI President. Supreme court had appointed two other members Vinod Rai and ex-Indian cricketer Diana Edulji for the CoA. Both will be remunerated with an amount close to Rs 3.5 crores. Ravi Thodge, who was the third member, will get a remuneration of Rs 60 lakhs.
Guha had resigned from the post of CoA member just four months after his appointment. He had pointed out several cases of conflict of interest which were left unaddressed by the BCCI. He thus wrote a mail to the BCCI that he won't be accepting any payment for his stint as a CoA member.
“We have received Guha’s email informing us that he won’t be taking any money from the board for his services as COA member,” a BCCI official told The Indian Express.
Limaye has joined as the Head of the National Stock Exchange after serving as a CoA member for about five months.
“No proceedings shall be initiated against any members of the said committee individually or the committee jointly without leave of this court. The officers who have carried the directions of the Committee of Administrators shall also be immune while acting as such,” the order further stated.
