Saurav Ghosal enters second round of Hong Kong Open

Indian squash ace Saurav Ghosal defeated Stephen Coppinger from South Africa 3-2 in a hard-fought five-setter to enter the second round of the Hong Kong Open World Series today in Hong Kong.

The South African pocketed the first game after an intense battle 11-9 to take the lead 1-0. Ghosal came back to win the next set 11-3 with relative ease.

The third set was a tight encounter as the game went on neck-to-neck. Saurav held his nerve to win his second game 12-10. The fourth set ended in favour of the South African as the Indian lost it 9-11. The match was tied at 2 sets apiece going into the decider.

The decider was a close contest, as neither of the two succumbed to the pressure. The Indian lad eventually won the match in 76 minutes as he clinched the fifth 11-9.

The World No.12 Indian will next face second ranked Mohamed El Shorbagy in the second round on Thursday.
