Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis stormed into the doubles final of the WTA Guangzhou Open in Guangzhou (China) with a straight sets victory over Julia Glushko (Israel) and Rebecca Peterson (Sweden).

Mirza and Hingis, ranked one and two in the world in doubles, dismantled their semifinal opponents 6-3, 6-4 in 72 minutes to set up a title-clash with unseeded Chinese pair of Xu Shilin and You Xiaodi, who upset second-seeded Klaudia Jans-Ignacik (Poland) and Anastasia Rodionova (Australia) 7-6 (5), 6-3 in the other semifinals.

It is Mirza-Hingis’ first Tour event after winning the US Open last month.

The opening set was lop-sided with the top seeds quick to break their opponents twice.  Glushko and Peterson came back strongly in the second, notching up two early breaks, before the Indo-Swiss pair, who appeared to struggle with their service game, regained control, breaking their unseeded opponents three times to seal the match.
