Usain Bolt suffers hamstring tear just a month ahead of Rio
Fastest man on the planet, Usain Bolt, confirmed yesterday that he had suffered a grade-1 hamstring tear at Jamaica's Olympic trials on Friday. The sprinter announced that he is already under medical treatment and expects to be back to full fitness before the end of the month, just in time for Rio.
During Jamaica's Olympic trials, Bolt had withdrawn from the final of the 100 meters after clocking a time of 10.04 seconds in the semifinal on Friday night.
On his Facebook account, Bolt wrote, “After feeling discomfort in my hamstring after the first round last night and then again in the semi-final tonight I was examined by the Chief Doctor of the National Championships and diagnosed with a Grade 1 tear. I have submitted a medical exemption to be excused from the 100m final and the remainder of the National Championships. I will seek treatment immediately and hope to show fitness at the London Anniversary Games on July 22 to earn selection for the Olympic Games in Rio.”
The sprinter soon posted pictures of him undergoing physiotherapy to hasten the healing process. “Starting the recovery process right away,” the post read, showing his thigh strapped with multiple black pads for physiotherapy.
