Indian spin stalwart Harbhajan Singh has expressed his desire to find hidden cricket talents in villages through his academies. Harbhajan runs five academies in different parts of the country that coach young cricketers in different aspects of the sport.

After winning matches for India at the International stage, Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is in search of the next big thing in cricket in India’s villages. Speaking on the sidelines of the announcement of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) to be started next year, Harbhajan Singh expressed his desire to unearth hidden talents in villages. “In these cricketing academies run by me, coaches are providing training to batsmen, bowlers and fielders,” he told PTI. The 35-year-old also added that around 900 budding cricketers were being trained in these academies at Jalandhar, Phagwara, Lucknow, Kolkata and elsewhere.

Harbhajan also added that his aim is to do something back for the game, which has given him everything. “Cricket has given a lot to me and it’s time now to do something back for the game. My academies are doing the job for upcoming players,” he told PTI. Harbhajan’s academy will be providing training to the ‘Punjab de Shers’ in CCL.

After a successful bowling display against the South Africans in ODIs, the off-spinner also exuded his confidence of a comeback into the Indian Test side. “Last ODIs I have done well. Whatever is there I am confident that I will get to play in Test matches again,” he said, reported PTI. The Indian spinner took six wickets in four matches in the ODI series against South Africa. However, the 35-year-old has only a solitary wicket to show in his recent Ranji Trophy outing against Vidarbha.
