Records and Numbers tumble as Kohli and Co. seal incredible series win

Virat Kohli became the first Indian captain in history to win more than one Test in West Indies on Saturday after India defeated the home side by 237 runs. Here is a look at the records that were broken yesterday.

1 - Virat Kohli is the first Indian captain to win more than one Test in West Indies.

1 - This is the first time since the Boxing Day Test in 2014, Ravichandran Ashwin has failed to take a minimum of 4 wickets in a Test match.

2 - First time India has won two Tests in the same series in the Caribbean. 

3 - India is currently third in the list of Test victories in the West Indies. Australia & England are at the top with 21 & 14 wins respectively.

4 - This is the fourth time India have won a Test series in West Indies . The other three instances were 19712006 and 2011. The captains were Ajit Wadekar, Rahul Dravid & Mahendra Singh Dhoni respectively.

6 - Ravichandran Ashwin has won 6 Man of the Match awards so far. 

7 - This is the 7th test that India has won in West Indies. The other instances were 1971 (Port of Spain), 1976 (Port of Spain) , 2002 (Port of Spain),  2006 (Jamaica) , 2011 (Jamaica) & 2016 (Antigua).

8 - Ravichandran Ashwin has picked 50 Test wickets in 8 matches against West Indies.

  • 7 Harbhajan Singh v Aus
  • 8 EAS Prasanna v NZ
  • 8 Anil Kumble v Pak

9 - Under Virat Kohli, India has not lost 9 consecutive Tests so far.

50 - Ravichandran Ashwin has 50 wickets against West Indies in Test cricket.

            He also has picked 50 Test wickets against Australia.

108 - West Indies were bowled out for 103 yesterday. This was their second lowest score against India in Tests.

237 - India's victory by 237 runs is the third biggest outside Asia and their second best against West Indies overall.
