Shreyas Iyer's sister made the headlines after her reel when the KKR match ended in a draw. She jokingly said that Punjab Kings gave a free point to KKR, which started a controversy. Recently in the Lock Upp show, she clarified on her actions in that reel and the real intentions behind the same.

Over the last few months, Shresta Iyer, the real sister of Shreyas Iyer, has been in the headlines. When KKR and PBKS faced each other, the match ended in a draw due to the rain. Punjab Kings were having a terrific run, being unbeaten in the start, but they were handed just one point in this game.

Following this, Shresta Iyer posted a reel along with some other PBKS teammates. In the viral video, she claimed that Punjabis are good at heart due to which they gave one free point to the Knight Riders. This reel drew immediate backlash, due to which she deleted the same, and even posted a story to clarify her actions.

Recently, she has been a part of the reality show Lock Upp Season 2. Host Ritesh Deshmukh asked her about the viral reel incident. To this, she replied by saying, “Maine kisi ke sentiments hurt nahi kiye hai (I did not hurt anyone's sentiments). I think it was just fun banter. Sports mein aise fun banters hote rehte hai (Such fun banters are common in sports).”

Our Take

Shresta Iyer received a lot of online trolls and abuses following her viral reel. Even though she removed the same from her account and clarified her actions, it was a little too late. Punjab Kings went on to be knocked out of the tournament, even after the team stayed unbeaten for the initial games.
