The BCCI has submitted an interim plea to the Supreme Court to allow the Indian Board to draw the funds, amounting to Rs 1.33 crore, required to host the last two Tests of the series against England in Mumbai and Chennai. The apex court will hear the BCCI’s plea on Wednesday at 3 pm.

The fourth Test between India and England is set to begin on December 8, and it appears the BCCI is running out of time to arrange the funds required to host it. Last month, the Supreme Court had allowed the Board to withdraw funds for the first three Tests, but had given them a deadline till December 3 to get the state associations to implement all of the Lodha recommendations. The BCCI were planning to raise the matter at the hearing which was initially scheduled to take place on December 5, but was later rescheduled to December 9.

After the meeting was scheduled, BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke has confirmed that the board will head to court "with an interim petition because there are no funds to host the last two Tests" and that "there's no other choice".

The BCCI will ask the apex court to release funds amounting to Rs 1.33 crore for hosting the final two Test matches. The Court will hear the plea at 3 pm on Wednesday, hours before the fourth Test is scheduled to start in Mumbai.
