India will play four Tests, five ODIs and three T20Is on their tour of South Africa scheduled for the latter part of 2017, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced. On their previous tour in 2013, India played only three ODIs and two Tests following a dispute between the two cricket boards.

“Our scheduling discussions with the BCCI are in progress and we hope to be in a position to announce the fixtures for this tour in the new year,” CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat was quoted as saying by Wisdenindia website.

South Africa toured India between October and December in 2015 and played four Tests, five ODIs, and three T20I.

Top-ranked India’s visit is slotted in the middle of a packed home season for the Proteas, and is sandwiched between Bangladesh’s tour in September-October and Australia’s in February-March 2018.

“Another bumper season of attractive international cricket awaits our fans. India and Australia finished 2016 as the top teams on the ICC rankings list and this will give our players great incentive to perform at their very best,” Lorgat said.

“We have not beaten Australia in a home Test series since unity and that surely must be good reason to perform in order to bank a notable first. Our fans can look forward to a really big 2017-18 home season for the Proteas,” he added.
