Umar Draz, a die-hard fan of Indian cricket star Virat Kohli, was arrested on Tuesday, in Okara district of the Punjab province in Pakistan, for hoisting the Indian flag from his home's rooftop.

Following Virat Kohli's match-winning knock against Australia in the first T20 international, Umar Draz hoisted the tri-colour. However, police raided his house, seized the flag, and arrested him, following complaints from neighbours. Police filed a case against him, for violating 'Maintaince of Public Order', before presenting him in court and taking him into custody.

“I am a big fan of Virat Kohli. I support the Indian team because of Kohli. Hoisting of Indian flag on the rooftop of house only shows my love for the Indian cricketer,” Draz was quoted as saying by the PTI.

Draz insisted that he did not have any idea that he was committing a crime, and urged the authorities to look at him as “an Indian cricketer’s fan and not as a spy”.
