India v Bangladesh player ratings: Kohli flops, Pandya gets 8

INDIA 

Rohit Sharma- 5/10

While credit must go for his attacking instincts, Rohit Sharma did what Rohit Sharma does best and threw away his wicket after a good start.

Shikhar Dhawan- 5/10

Scored at almost run-a-ball, but unlike other times did not throw his wicket early this time. Also clung on to Mushfiqur’s catch in what was a vital moment at the death of the game. 

Virat Kohli- 5.5/10

For a change Virat Kohli had a poor night and no wonder the Indian batting struggled. After launching Shuvagata Hom for a six, Kohli attempted to go for it again and got castled.

Suresh Raina- 7/10

Responsible batting for the best part, with the odd boundary, Raina steered the Indian batting and also picked a wicket with his part-time bowling. Good day for the southpaw.

Hardik Pandya- 8/10

A mixed bag for the youngster. Excellent with the bat but equally poor with the ball initially, Pandya had an eventful evening in Bangalore. Then Dhoni decided to hand him the last over, and he responded by picking two wickets under the highest possible pressure. Cannot ask for more.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni- 7.5/10

Dhoni was not at his destructive best on the relatively-slow Chinnaswamy track, but his captaincy to bring Ashwin in the 13th over to get rid of Shakib and also the brilliant stumping to send back Shabbir were par excellence. And then he gave Pandya the last over and eventually ran out Mustafizur to win the game. What a night for the man!

Yuvraj Singh- 1/10

3 runs off 6 balls towards the business end of the innings means Yuvraj gets grace marks in this one.

Ravindra Jadeja- 8/10

If the excellent bowling to send back Shabbir and Tamim was not enough, Jaddu also scored a quick-fire 12 to take India to a respectable score earlier.

Ravichandran Ashwin- 7/10

While Ashwin bowled superbly and had the Bangladeshi batsmen at sea for the best part of his spell, the dropped catch of Shabbir means he gets a slightly lower score than what his bowling deserved.

Jasprit Bumrah- 7/10

Very good bowling at the death by the young Mumbai lad kept India in the game but that cannot discount for the catch he dropped or the expensive overs he bowled during the powerplay.

Ashish Nehra- 6.5/10

Nehra dropped a catch to give Tamim another life but picking up the wicket of the settled Soumya Sarkar meant he had made amends for his errors.

BANGLADESH

Tamim Iqbal- 8/10

The returning batsman gave the Bangladesh innings the perfect start at the top of the innings scoring 35 runs and putting the visiting team in command from the go.

Mohammad Mithun- 1/10

One run off three balls gave India an ideal start, and Bangladesh the worst one.

Sabbir Rahman- 7/10

Sabbir complemented Tamim perfectly as the duo added 44 runs for the 2nd wicket. To his credit, he did not throw it away and was only dismissed to a freak stumping by Dhoni.

Shakib Al Hasan- 7/10

The all-rounder bowled a controlled spell, picking up the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan. With the bat, Shakib did launch a counter-attack smashing two sixes off the spinners, to score 22 off 15.

Mashrafe Mortaza- 6/10

The captain led from the front with his bowling, giving only 22 runs in his four overs, bowling six dot balls. With the bat though, Mashrafe came in to pinch hit at #5, but one six apart he didn’t do much.

Soumya Sarkar- 7/10

21 runs off 21 balls batting so low down the order was huge. Not to mention his catch to dismiss the big-hitting Pandya was a turning point in the game.

Mahmudullah- 6.5/10

Unlike his smart and pacy innings against Australia, Mahmudullah never looked settled at the crease and threw his wicket with two runs required off two balls. Picked up a wicket in his solo over though.

Mushfiqur Rahim- 6.5/10

Mushfiqur’s 11 off 6 to put Bangladesh within touching distance of a win was massive. A rush of blood, however, sent him back to the pavilion. Unnecessary.

Shuvagata Hom- 6/10

Got the biggest wicket of the night, when he rattled Kohli’s stumps. Facing the last ball was too much pressure for the lad.

Al-Amin Hossain- 7/10

Two wickets in two balls in the 16th over put Bangladesh in cruise control and curbed the flow of runs. But then he leaked runs at the death to loosen the grip on the Indian batting he himself created.

Mustafizur Rehman- 6.5/10

The left-handed bowler started off poorly but sent back the dangerous-looking Rohit Sharma to give Bangladesh their first breakthrough. And then also got Jadeja in the last over. Too bad he went for 34 runs.
