After scripting an unbelievable chase on a difficult wicket to defeat Australia, an emotional Virat Kohli called the knock his best T20 innings and thanked the crowd for their constant support. The Man of the Match's 82 off 51 balls propelled India through from a seemingly impossible situation.

An emotional Kohli talked about the innings after the splendid victory against Australia.

“This innings has to be in my top three, perhaps the top right now because I'm a bit emotional,” said Kohli.

Kohli thanked the crowd that was behind the home team even when things looked out of hand in the middle of the innings. “I would like to thank the crowd. It was unbelievable, the support helps you push through those tough times,” he said.

Talking about how he relishes challenges, the Test skipper said, “You need challenges in every game, they improve you as cricketers.”

Talking about the innings, the batsman said, “Yuvi had a good partnership, and then MS kept me calm. We (me and Dhoni) have always run well, we have an understanding, that's why you train in the gym, you have those fitness regimes, that paid off today.”

Losing captain Steve Smith was all praise for Kohli saying, “That was a pretty serious innings under pressure. He has done it for a long time. This time, also he did not fail,”

Skipper M S Dhoni, who kept company with Kohli till the end, said,

“He has been playing brilliantly last three years. He has been improving. What's important is to take the lessons from even a losing game, and that's what he has done.

But you can't rely on one batsman, though. We need to have the top order and middle order contributing. That will relieve the pressure a lot,” concluded Dhoni.
