BCCI to celebrate its 500th Test in grand style; will felicitate former Test captains
The first Test to be played between India and New Zealand from 22nd September at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur will be the country’s 500th Test match in its 84-year of history . The BCCI plans to celebrate the occasion in a grand fashion, but will not invite the ICC's Chairman and CEO.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) plans to celebrate the 500th Test match in its history in grand fashion, when India will square off with New Zealand from 22nd September. But former BCCI President Shashank Manohar, will not be invited to the occasion, reported The Times of India.
After Shashank Manohar stepped down as the President of the BCCI to become the first independent chairman of the International Cricket Council(ICC), both the bodies are at loggerheads over many issues. Recently, the BCCI’s non-inclusion in the finance committee meeting to decide on the budget for the Champion Trophy 2017 has not gone down well with the Indian Board, so, inviting neither the ICC chairman nor CEO Dave Richardson is pretty evident.
A felicitation ceremony to honor India's former Test captains will be held just before the toss followed by a special dinner with the BCCI officials. President of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association Rajeev Shukla who is the chief organizer of the event will also be facilitated by the BCCI. The Board will also provide Free T-shirts to all the ticket holding spectators present in the gallery.
India played its first Test in 1932 against England and also achieved the numero Uno position in Test Cricket in 2009.
