Glenn Maxwell is very close to returning from the break that he took for mental health reasons after he was seen training with the Victorian team. Maxwell has also played three Victorian Premier Cricket matches with club side Fitzroy Doncaster and been in some aspects of Victoria's Shield Program.

After striking an impeccable 62 in the first T20I against Sri Lanka, Maxwell, who looked to be at the peak of his powers, shocked one and all with his decision to take an indefinite break from the game, citing mental health issues. Maxwell's willingness to be open about the issue and his decision to take a break was widely supported by cricketers and experts, with people lauding him for his courage to be honest.

But now, after more than a month, Maxwell seems to be ready to make a comeback in the team after he was spotted training with the Victorian cricket team. He has also played three matches for Fitzroy Doncaster which is a club side in the Victorian Premier Cricket. Maxwell's Victorian teammate Marcus Harris believes that the all-rounder is not far away from making a comeback to the top level of cricket.

“I think he is doing everything he needs to do … when he is ready to come back (he will). I’m not sure if it is this week or Big Bash, but he’s not far away I think,” Harris told cricket.com.au.

“I think those sort of guys need some space. I think they’ve got everyone hounding them about what’s going on and what they’re doing,” Harris added.

With Nic Maddinson and Will Pucovski also following Maxwell's footsteps and taking a break from the team, Harris has revealed that the players have the full backing of both the teammates and the team management and assured that they will continue to receieve all the support they need.

“They are adults. Maxi has been really good and all the guys dealing with stuff have been very good and we just put our arm around them and support them,” Harris concluded.
