Aakash Chopra has predicted that there will be two editions of the Indian Premier League in a single year in future, and it will happen for sure. Chopra has further explained that the one will have all ten teams play against each other twice, and the other will see teams going head-to-head once.

The buzz around the Indian Premier League (IPL) is next to nothing when it comes to anything related to cricket across the world. The additions of two new franchises – Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants – have made the cash-rich league even more exciting and competitive from this year onwards. One of the debutants, the Titans, were crowned the champions in IPL 2022 under the leadership of Hardik Pandya.

Keeping the excitement and chatter around IPL in mind, India’s cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra made a bold prediction regarding the T20 league. Chopra believes there will be two separate IPL editions happening in the coming years, of which one will see 10 teams taking on each other twice, and the other will have sides going up against each other once. Chopra also mentioned that it would not take more than five years to get started.

“When you talk about this, then you feel if two IPLs are required. It does not matter whether it is required or not. Will it happen or won't happen? That is the big question and I feel it will happen," Chopra said on his official YouTube channel.

“It will not happen now, it will not happen in this rights cycle, it will not happen in the next five years, but it will happen in the five years after that. It will 100% happen, there will be a big IPL, where there will be 94 matches, and one small IPL which will be over in one month, where all teams will play each other maybe once.”
