Indian international Robin Singh announced his arrival in style as his goal in the first half provided Delhi Dynamos with a hard fought 2-1 win over FC Pune City.

Surprisingly, it was the visitors, who started the first half strongly and it took them only five minutes to have a go at the goal. Hans Mulder won the ball out wide and pass it to Dos Santos, the Brazilian set-up Robin Singh for a shot, but the India international's effort didn't hit the target.

Delhi controlled the possession of the ball in the initial stages by winning the midfield battle. Florent Malouda dropped deep and was orchestrating every move for Roberto Carlos' team. The interchange of passes between him and Dos Santos was a treat to watch.

Lenny Rodrigues had to drop deep on the right wing for Pune to help out Dharmaraj Ravanan, who was being dragged all over the place by Dos Santos. The home side were certainly missing the influence of Didier Zokora at the center of the park, his absence provided Malouda with lot of space and time on the ball as James Bailey wasn't able to keep up with him.

The visitors finally got the goal they deserved in the 23rd minute of the match, and like in their last game, it arrived from a set-piece. A mistake by Diego Colotto provided Delhi with a corner and Florent Malouda found Robin Singh at the far post with an accurate delivery. The tall striker backed away from the defenders and his thumping header found the back of the net. David Platt would have been disappointed by the lack of marking in the box.

After getting the lead, Delhi sat back which allowed Pune to get back in the game. The home side then started to control more of the ball and created some good chances.

In the 28th minute of the match, Ravanan digged out a good cross from the right. Kalu Uche felt he was impeded by the defender, but the referee waved away his protest. Few moments later, another chance fell to Jackichand Singh. James Bailey's cross evaded everyone and reached the diminutive winger at the far post, but his cross-shot was saved by Toni Doblas' finger tips.

Pune were looking dangerous from set-pieces as Diego Colotto missed a great opportunity in the box. Nicky Shorey's free-kick reached the center back inside the box, who took too long to get his shot away. Doblas was able to close him down and tip the ball away, behind the goal.

Despite the late pressure, Delhi Dynamos managed to hold on the 1-0 lead as they went into the half-time break.

David Platt wasn't pleased with what he saw from his side in the first half and brought on Tuncay Sanli, for Wesley Verhoek, at the start of the second half. The former Turkish international made an immediate impact on the game. After a good exchange of passes with Kalu Uche at the edge of the box, Sanli was through on goal but his shot, from a narrow angle, was saved by Doblas.

Jackichand's influence on the game increased as the match progressed. The 23-year-old showed why he is so highly rated in India, as his skill and pace on the ball stretched the Delhi defense. The winger became a marked man, as both Souvik Chakraborty and Anas Edathodika took him out with dangerous tackles, in quick succession.

Pune began to dominate possesion and Uche missed a golden opportunity to equalize in the 58th minute. Jackichand found him with a lovely delivery from a free-kick, but the striker's header was straight at the goalkeeper.

The introduction of Didier Zokora also helped them in controlling the midfield as Malouda's influence dwindled.

Delhi nearly scored a second in the 66th minute when John Arne Riise tested Simonsen with a stinging free-kick. The goalkeeper spilled the ball, but was relieved to see it roll wide of the post.

Pune threw everything they had, including the kitchen sink, and that left them open at the back. Deep into added time, Richard Gadze doubled Delhi's lead against the run of play as Vinicius Ferreira found him with a low cross.

The Stallions went down fighting though and in an exciting end to the game, Uche grabbed the goal in the 98th minute. Eugeneson Lyngdoh, who came on for Jackichand, sprinted down the left wing after the restart and his low cross lopped up, after deflecting off the goalkeeper's leg. Uche headed the ball into an empty net and made it 2-1.

It was too little, too late though, as the match ended 2-1 in favor of the visitors. Roberto Carlos' men produced another solid defensive performance at the back. They have bounced back well after the disappointing loss in their opening game, and will head into their match against Kerala Blasters with lot of confidence.

Pune City will be left disappointed to not have got something out of the match after producing a good display in the second half of the game. David Platt's team selection was questionable though, his decision to drop Zokora, Sanli and Adrian Mutu was likely to have been influenced by the fact that they face Atletico de Kolkata within 3 days. The performance of Jackichand was surely the biggest positive to take away from his loss.

Full-Time Score: FC Pune City 1 (Uche - 90+8') - Delhi Dynamos 2 (Robin Singh - 23', Gadze - 90+7')
