Mumbai City FC have been charged and fined by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for "team misconduct" during their Indian Super League (ISL) semi-final against Atletico de Kolkata in Mumbai. The AIFF disciplinary committee fined the Mumbai-based club Rs 5 lakh on Monday.

After winning the first leg 3-2, ATK traveled to Mumbai to play the second leg of the semi-final. The game ended 0-0, and eventual Champions ATK booked a place in the final of the tournament. After the match, what started as an altercation between Kolkata's Juan Belencoso and Mumbai's Leo Costa quickly escalated into a full blown fist fight and the incident needed people from both sides to separate the players.

The Rs. 5 lakh penalty was imposed on Mumbai under the AIFF Disciplinary Code Article 53B. Apart from the club, the AIFF also found Thiago Cunha, who was seen kicking opponents, guilty of misconduct and handed the Brazilian a four-match suspension along with a fine of Rs 3 lakh under Code Article 49 'Misconduct Against Opponents'.

Facundo Cardozo also faces a three-game ban for his role in the altercation after the game and was charged under Article 58 titled 'Offensive Behaviour and Fair Play'.

Mumbai official Bhushan Tandel was also handed a five-match ban to add to the Rs 2 lakh fine for misconduct against the match officials. Tandel was charged under Article 60 titled 'Threats', aside from Article 58.
