9th issue of our exciting, informative & concise (300 word) newsletter on Indian sports is here.

Badminton: Big big match coming up today!

Saina Nehwal vs Li Xuerei (of China) in the finals of China Open. Saina, the defending champion, had an easy outing against her long term nemesis Wang Yihan (of China again!) winning 21-13, 21-18. Saina looks transformed after having struggled the last 2 months from an abdomen injury.

Li Xuerei, however, is the reigning Olympic champion, a former World No. 1 and has beaten Saina in all of their 5 face-offs – monumental task ahead for Saina!

Also, Siril Varma has made it World Juniors Men's Finals in Peru upsetting 4 seeded players along the way. He will play Chia Hung Lu of Chinese Tapei today for the title.

Cricket: #IndvsSA 2nd Test

Ashwin & Jadeja spun SA out for 212 on a seamer-friendly pitch in Bangalore. Ball of the day, however, belonged to Varun Aaron, who got Amla bowled to a peach that landed on the middle stump line, swung a little bit to take out the off-stump - all at 140+ kmph! ABD scored an attacking 85 (again!), and Dhawan/Vijay helped India to 80-0 at stumps.

In other news, PCB claimed that BCCI had offered to host the Ind-Pak test series only for BCCI to later clarify that they didn’t. In the process, both sides have claimed the moral high ground, a tactical victory and the need for permission from their respective governments before any decision. What drama!

Also, ICC has approved the MCL, another league for retired cricketers.

#LetsFootball

Delhi finally showed their attacking colours but were wasteful in a 1-1 draw with Kolkata. North East United face-off against Kerala Blasters today, we are predicting a 2-1 win for Kerala, what say?

Hockey

India off to a great start in Junior Asia Cup, winning 2-1 against Japan thanks to Harmanpreet Singh’s double strike – a penalty corner specialist for the future! They play hosts Malaysia next today.

Also, TOPS (Target Olympics Podium Scheme) is being restructured following a host of resignations.
