Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi claimed India’s limited overs team captain MS Dhoni and his team-mate Suresh Raina are overpriced, because they are not part of the Test team.

Speaking at the launch of scholar Ronojoy Sen's book, 'Nation at Play' on Thursday, Bedi said, "Two people have gone for Rs 12.5 crore - Dhoni and Raina. Both of them are not in the reckoning for the Indian team," Zee News reported.

MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina were the first picks for the new IPL franchises – Pune and Rajkot respectively – at the IPL draft on Tuesday in Mumbai.

“One has retired and the other is struggling to find a place in the team. How would you want to believe that this is the right thing," the 69-year old added.

MS Dhoni had retired from Test cricket during India’s tour to Australia just before the 2015 ICC World Cup. Raina was last part of the Test team in India’s tour to Australia in 2014-15, with a pair in his last Test of the tour in Sydney.

Bishan Singh Bedi, who is known to be a strong advocate of the supremacy of Test cricket, also lamented the lack of popularity of Test matches, "No one wants to play (Tests)," he said Zee News reported.
