Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya led the celebrations inside the Indian dressing room after the hosts’ thrilling win over England by an innings and 75 runs in the final Test in Chennai to complete a 4-0 series win. A tired yet visibly satisfied Virat Kohli had the final words, “Yes, finally!”.

With the 4-0 win in the Test series, India have now extended their unbeaten run to 18 Tests – the most by an Indian Test team in history. There were no over-the-top celebrations though in the dressing room, at least none caught on the camera. Most of the players looked fatigued having given so much, physically and mentally, into this 5-match Test series.

Hardik Pandya, who was in the squad for this series, led the celebrations alongside the hero of the fifth day Ravindra Jadeja, who picked up seven wickets and led India to a victory when a draw looked the most likely result on the cards. The duo led the chants of “Hip hip hurray”, while Murali Vijay, still recovering from the injury he had picked up earlier in the match, joined in with the ‘V’ sign.

KL Rahul, who joined a rare club of batsmen who have been dismissed for 199, almost avoided the camera, perhaps still disappointed at missing out on the milestone as he watched his childhood friend Karun Nair grab the spotlight. As the camera panned towards Kohli in the end, the visibly exhausted skipper expressed his delight with a couple of simple yet jubilant words: “Yes, finally!”

India will now head into the ODI and T20 series against England under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and they will hope to continue this dominance over the visitors in the shorter formats.
